I have a confession: I’m a big kid. When I found out I was going to see Aladdin the musical I was so excited I think I tried on like 5 outfits to make sure I had the right one. The girls and I started off the night with some tapas & cocktails and then we made our way to the Capitol Theatre in Sydney to watch the show. Click the link to read what I thought of the musical 🙂
IT WAS AMAZING.
Get off my blog and go book tickets, if you see it and can honestly tell me you didn’t enjoy it I’ll refund you your money. The show was so well done, I mean turning a cartoon into a stage show cannot be easy. The set was incredible, I lost count of how many times it changed but they had every major scene covered. The costumes were beautiful, so much colour and so much bling it looked amazing under all the stage lights.
One of my favourite scenes was in the cave of wonders, where Aladdin finds the lamp. Genie took over the stage and sung “friend like me” I totally found myself singing along to the catchy tune. I’m pretty sure everyone had a smile on their face during this song. I also really enjoyed when the cast sung “Prince Ali” (the one when Aladdin becomes the prince) and the way they did “a whole new world” was pretty magical.
Special mention to Michael James Scott who played the role of Genie. He was by far the best on stage, he had the entire audience laughing even throwing in a few Tim-Tam & Vegemite jokes. He was an absolute legend, I would see the show again just to see him.
This should give you an idea of what to expect:
Have you seen it? How about any other Disney musicals? Let me know below 🙂
