I like Coldplay as much as the next person….ok probably slightly more. I’m not some crazy super fan or anything, but I can easily sing along to most of their songs. At the last minute I was lucky enough to get my hands on two tickets to the first Head Full of Dreams concert in Sydney. Not going to lie we had no idea who the opening acts were so we missed those and arrived at the perfect time to get settled (by settled I mean to buy wine) before Coldplay came on stage. So they opened with “A head Full of Dreams” makes sense given the name of the tour. I’m not to familiar with this song but the tour organisers had been clever enough to hand out wristbands to everyone in the crowd (100,000 people) that lit up and went CRAZY, this was so cool to see. They followed with yellow, a Coldplay classic with everyones wristbands glowing yellow, the stadium looked absolutely incredible.
It felt like they did a tonne of songs (which they did) but here are my favs from the night:
The Scientist – Everyone adores this song right? There’s something special about hearing 100,000 people sing such beautiful lyrics in sync. I’ve had “nobody said it was easy” stuck in my head alllll day, this was a total highlight of the night.
Fix You – The same as above, clearly a crowd favourite. Everyones wristbands flickered between red & yellow colours and the sound of the crowd gave me goosebumps, literally. I’ve never met a person who doesn’t like this song, I mean seriously?! “lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you” – totally sung that as I typed it :p
Paradise – For no other reason than this one was fun to sing and dance along to.
Adventure of a Lifetime – Watch the video below, and you’ll understand why.
Sky Full of Stars – My favourite Coldplay song, before seeing it live. After seeing it live I love it even more. Every single person loved this song, the lights and wristbands were going crazy and it was impossible to not smile. I could listen to them play this live over and over again (thanks to Spotify I’ve literally been doing this).
I have one confession, I didnt like the song they ended on. They should’ve finished with Sky Full of Stars, but they chose to finish with Christmas Lights. I’m assuming they picked that as its almost Christmas, but not many people seemed to know the lyrics, and it just seemed like a bit of a downer to end on after the fun of Sky Full of Stars. But overall, bloody loved the concert and would happily go again.
Massive thanks to Ticketblaster who helped me out with tickets, check them out here.
Did you go to the concert? Have you seen Coldplay live? What was your favourite song? Let me know below 🙂
